Next Workshop Details

  • Workshop 2 : August 2nd, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Location: Banga Bhawan, 1148 N Main St, Glendale Heights, IL 60139

What Happens In A Workshop?

If you are passionate about theater, you will enjoy the workshop. Not only is this a learning session, but it is also a fun session with lots of experimentation and theater games. The production of a classy performance requires several aspects of theater to work together in a seamless, coordinated and quality focused manner. The workshops will be used to discuss these various tenets of a great production, which will include acting, direction, stage setup, lighting, audio-visual, make-up, project management, etc.

An added goal of the workshop is to "build the team". All people involved in a theater production work as a team. Camaraderie and teamwork are essential elements for success. The workshop setting allows people to be comfortable with each other, understand strengths and weaknesses, and help everyone become non-judgmental about others' limitations and nuances.

When And Where Do Workshops Happen?

We try to conduct at least 2 theater workshops a year usually on weekends.

The venue is generally at Banga Bhavan (1148 N Main Street, Glendale Heights, IL 60139). Depending on the timing, Meal/Snacks  is provided to the participants.

How Much Does It Cost?

For CNG members, this is a fully free event.

For non-members, you are cordially invited to attend the workshops. There will be a nominal fee charged per person for the workshop and food.

Send email to chicago.natyogoshthi@gmail.com if you are interested to learn more.

Open Stage

Next Open Stage Details

  • TBD

What Happens In An Open Stage?

The goal and intention behind the Open Stage event is to allow any and all CNG members to write, direct, act or be actively involved in two short plays that will be staged in an informal setting at Banga Bhavan. This event involves CNG members who may not get to the chance to  participate in CNG’s primary productions in Colure, so that they get the opporunity to showcase and hone their skills. The event will have ideally two productions:

  • An enacted play

  • A reading play (শ্রুতিনাটক)

How Long Does It Last?

Each play's duration is max between 30 to 40 minutes, with a 10 minute gap in the middle. Light snacks are served at the end of the event.

Who Is The Audience?

The BAGC membership and theater lovers in Chicagoland area are the audience. Generally, we expect 80 to 120 people for each event.

When And Where Do Open Stage Events Happen?

CNG aims to organize two to three Open Stage events per calendar year.

The venue is generally at Banga Bhavan (1148 N Main Street, Glendale Heights, IL 60139) on a weekend evening between 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event duration is no longer than two hours, with light snacks served.

How Much Does It Cost?

For all audiences, this is a fully free event.

We try to find a sponsor for the snacks so that the food is free as well. But in some cases, we may not be able to do so. The audience is then requested to pay a minimal amount (generally less than $10) for the food.

Fundraising goal: CNG plans to organize a silent raffle as a means to raise funds during Open Stage. CNG is committed to donate a reasonable portion of the raised funds to BAGC, for Banga Bhavan account.
